Ismael Leyva to Design SVA Dorm; 220 CPS Details Revealed

New, 10 comments

GRAMERCY—Architect Ismael Leyva has been chosen to design the School of Visual Arts' new dormitory at 407 First Avenue. Ben "The Sledgehammer" Shaoul's Magnum Real Estate Group is developing the building, which will be six stories on First Avenue and 14 stories in the interior lot, containing a total of 242 suites. The will be a public terrace on the seventh floor. The design (above) looks pretty dorm-y, but not in a particularly terrible way. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]

CENTRAL PARK SOUTH—NY YIMBY spotted a bunch of permits that have been filed for new Robert A.M. Stern building 220 Central Park South, revealing that the building will be even taller that originally thought—950 feet instead of 920. The entirety of the project will total 410,000 square feet, with 160 total units at an (enormous) average of 2,500 square feet per unit. Also worth noting: judging by the size of the lots in an aerial shot provided by YIMBY, it appears that the smaller of the two buildings will face Central Park, while the larger faces 58th Street.
