A development site at 141 Willoughby Street across from City Point recently sold to the investment firm Savanna. The site currently holds a three-story building that was used by the Institute of Design and Construction, but, as-of-right, Savanna can build up to 120,000-square-feet of residential. However, Savanna will seek a special permit that would allow them to build twice as big, adding yet another tower to the Downtown Brooklyn skyline. The president of IDC notes that "much of the surrounding area allows for large towers," and they "expect that it is a reasonable request to change the zoning here." [Crain's]
