The police department stopped allowing reporters access to precincts' crime reports about a month ago, and refused to explain to why. But Brooklyn Daily recently got one sergeant to talk and apparently the reason for the blackout is DNAinfo, whose daily, locally focused reporting was angering other news outlets with less access. Instead of dealing with the feud, the department apparently decided to just cut everyone off. Some are predicting, however, that the blackout will end this week when new commissioner Bill Bratton is installed. [Brooklyn Daily]
