Cornerspotted: Our Savior Parish On East 183rd In The Bronx

New, 1 comment

Ferryboi does it again. Within minutes, the history buff identified the under-construction building in this week's Cornerspotter as Our Savior Church at Washington Avenue and East 183rd in the Bronx. The building was constructed in 1914 in order to hold the parish's church and school, and while both services are still active in the building, they are no longer related. As of 2009, a public school occupied the top floors. Father Francis. P Duffy founded the church, and he went on to become "the most celebrated U.S. Army chaplain in the Great War."
