Comment Of The Day

"The eastern shore of the Island (South Beach, Midland Beach, et al) used to rival Coney Island for rides, amusements and hotels. Then Sir Robert Moses decided it would be better to knock them all down and literally put up parking lots, even though the reason to go to the beaches (rides, amusements, hotels) were knocked down. If I live to be 105 I will never understand his circular reasoning. I've always thought these beaches were ripe for new rides and hotels, maybe even a casino or two. The FDR boardwalk along Capodanno Blvd is one of the longest in the world, and there's tons of room for new attractions. Make it happen!"—anon [Amusement Parks May Return to Staten Island's Eastern Shore]
