Gizmodo reports that Bixi, the Canadian non-profit that developed the technology behind Citi Bike, is filing for forced bankruptcy protection. The news comes after well-shared disdain for the firm's slow and imperfect software caused both Chicago and New York City to withhold a total of $5.6 million in funds from the company. No matter, though, as Bixi owes nearly $38 million to the city of Montreal, even after its generous officials dished out $108 million in 2011 to bail Bixi out of prior troubles.
