While trolling the Department of Buildings database, BuzzBuzz Home spotted a newly approved plan exam that shows a hotel at 790 Seventh Avenue between 51st and 52nd Streets will be growing taller. The hotel, which has the very long, repetitive name of The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel, current stands 23-stories high, and the proposal would create an additional 23 stories, doubling it in size. Morris Adjmi is listed as the architect of record, but they have not yet responded to Curbed's request for comment. The Schedule A attached to the new plan shows that the new floors will be occupied by 121 "apartments," but it's unclear if these will be apartment-style hotel rooms or actual dwelling units. Starwood Hotels & Resorts sold the 656-room hotel in 2012, and it's now managed by Highgate.
