The office of Governer Cuomo is pressuring Mayor de Blasio to make the call over who will replace the financially failing SUNY-operated Long Island College Hospital. With the Brooklyn Hospital Center and the Fortis Property Group/NYU Langone Medical Center plans as the predicted forerunners, both would bring luxury development to a shuttered portion of the institution. Neither scheme includes a full-service hospital which, according to a de Blasio spokeswoman, may be a deal-breaker for the new Mayor. With SUNY burning $13 million a month with an amassed debt of over $100 million, the fate of LICH is imminent. [NYDN; previously]
