Real estate wunderkind Jared Kushner recently snapped up two adjacent prewars on East Second Street, and he's already started renovations. Via a savvy reader, EV Grieve has a photo series that chronicles the little details at 170 East 2nd Street, from tile mosaics and marble hallways to the ornate metal work on the front door. The building, part of the six-story pair at No. 170-174 with 36 rental units between them, was once home to Beat poet extraordinaire Allen Ginsberg. It's definitely showing its age, with lots of wall cracks and brick that's exposed, well, not on purpose. Kushner has apparently started making over some of the units, so have a gander at the deteriorating bones of this 1899-built tenement while you still can.
