In March of 2013, the New York City Housing Authority ambitiously pledged to reduce its backlog of 350,000 work orders to 100,000 by the end of year, and while they didn't accomplish they goal, they came surprisingly close. NYCHA announced the number of active orders is down to 106,000, an impressive number considering the agency receives some 50,000 new requests every week. [Village Voice; previously]
