Finally, a glimmer of hope for Gowanus's crumbling Coignet Building: the Department of Buildings approved permits for a complete restoration. According to the filings, the plan is to "renovate building facade, repair, replacement and repointing cast stones wall, reconstruct stairs, install new windows and doors." As part of its community agreement for building a new supermarket right next door, Whole Foods promised to restore the landmarked building. And it looks like they finally are.
