A group of downtown residents that is suing the NYPD over what they see as overkill security for the World Trade Center site will appear in court on Thursday to make its case. The city has requested that the complaint be dismissed (probably as mere NIMBYism), but the World Trade Center Neighborhood Alliance's lawyer counters that "[t]hese are people who know first-hand about the destruction that terrorism can cause...so they take security very seriously. But they also value quality of life, and fear that this is what will be destroyed by this plan." [Broadsheet; previously]
