One Lower East Sider, LeRoy McCarthy, is lobbying to name the corner of Ludlow and Rivington, where the cover photo for Paul's Boutique was taken, Beastie Boys Square. He's actually gaining some traction, but even if his goal is realized, he's not going to stop there. He wants to rename a part of the Bronx for Big Pun, part of Brooklyn for Biggie, and the list goes on. "Hopefully 2014 will be the year that Hip Hop will be honored with respect from the places that the culture has represented with pride for decades," McCarthy says. [Bowery Boogie; previously]
