Despite major pushback from neighborhood residents, Brooklyn community board 6 voted 27 to 4 to approve the expansion plans for Park Slope's New York Methodist Hospital. The green light comes with a slew of contingencies, including pulling back the glass three-story top on the new building, reducing the height along Fifth Avenue, and cutting the number of parking spaces. The hospital plans to tear down 16 buildings that it owns and construct a new U-shaped outpatient center. [Brooklyn Paper; previously]
