Affordable Housing Wire

In East New York, 63 buildings with 486 affordable apartments are getting a makeover that will see the renovation of some kitchens and bathrooms, and general repairs throughout. The package of buildings was purchased by BRP Companies for $100 million in December 2013. "East New York is kind of the next hot area—for workforce (housing)," a BRP Managing Partner told the Daily News, "It's not going to be the next Williamsburg or Greenpoint." The city will renew a $32 million tax credit for the project in order to keep the housing affordable. [NYDN; official]
