Behind the Scenes of Brooklyn Bridge Park's Newest Piece

New, 2 comments

Come spring, yet another new chunk of Brooklyn Bridge Park will open, but this piece is a little different than those that have come before it. While the southern parts of the park—Piers 1 to 6—were born from very non-park-like industrial spaces, the new section is a re-imagining of an old park, as well as the creation of green space where there was none. The former is Main Street Park, while the latter will be known as John Street Park. Both are located at the northernmost tip of the park, beneath the Manhattan Bridge. During Open House New York, Pat Kirshner, Vice President of Capital Projects at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, led a behind the scenes tour of the new spaces, which should open to the public this spring.
