Huxley Building Action; American Idol Creator Sells Plaza Pads

GREENPOINT—Work is underway at the Huxley Envelope Building on India street in Greenpoint. In April, Greenpointers reported that the site would soon be purged as part of a state brownfield cleanup program, and the graffiti-covered structure, built in 1970, could be demolished. But by the looks of these photos shared by a tipster, that hasn't happened yet, though there is a backhoe on site digging up the ground. The site will be home to a 39-story residential tower. MIDTOWN—Simon Fuller, the man who invented "American Idol" and also the Spice Girls, has just sold off $38 million worth of Plaza apartments. How's this for building a mini-empire? The mogul bought unit 901, for $9,949,750, and 903, for $9,996,667, in 2007. Dude combined those into a 4BR/5.5BA. Then, just last year, he picked up in-betweener 902, a one-bed, 1.5-bath, for $3.25M. Last week, 901-903 sold for $33.2M, while 902 also got plucked up for $4.8M. No visuals, except for the li'l floorplan of 902, but just know that bank was made. [NYP; previously]
