The Blacklist Is Back

New, 12 comments

The dreaded tenant blacklist has returned. In 2012, laws changed and in order to protect tenants, names were no longer included on the list of housing court cases that the New York courts sell to landlords. Instead, it's just a list of case numbers. But the names are still in public records, and now companies are going through the system case by case to find tenant names, meaning that the blacklist is back and it can include anyone who has ever been involved in housing court, whether for failing to pay rent or suing your landlord.
