179 Suffolk Street, also known as 265 East Houston, is a ten-story apartment building that has been in the works since 2010, when it got off to an inauspicious start by accidentally destabilizing the neighboring building, forcing out a day-care center. Then the site lay dormant for three years until a not-very-nice-looking rendering appeared on a new construction fence, signifying that the development was back on. Now, as EV Grieve notes, the building has been making steady upward progress and, though most of it is covered in scaffolding, the parts that aren't are already covered in graffiti tags. If the finished product looks anything like the renderings, more graffiti would be a welcome thing.
