Will the MTA's headquarters at 341-347 Madison Avenue between 44th and 45th Streets be razed and replaced by a new skyscraper? With the forthcoming rezoning of the Vanderbilt Avenue corridor, it could happen, and the MTA has opened the door for developers by reopening the bidding for the longterm lease of the building. Zoning laws currently allow 376,575 square feet, but with the coming changes, the MTA is eyeing proposals for buildings as large as 753,150 square feet. [NYP]
