The Criterion Group bought Long Island City's Clock Tower earlier this year for $15 million, and now a local design firm is starting a campaign to have the Art Deco structure, built in 1927, protected as a landmark. Matthew Chrislip and Michael Hall of +Partners submitted a Request for Evaluation of the building to the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Landmarking would save the structure from being razed as part of any redevelopment plans (of which there are none, at the moment). [DNAinfo and CurbedWire Inbox; previously]
