Nearly three dozen overlooked small city parks will get cash for improvements, but the funds will not be coming from well-off private groups (i.e. the Central Park Conservancy), like Mayor Bill de Blasio previously proposed. Instead, the $130 million will come from public funding. Thirty-five half-acre parks and playgrounds in lower income neighborhoods will split the money, plus get additional funds for maintenance.
