New, 12 comments

Of the the 2,300 apartments total that are part of the mixed-use Domino redevelopment site, 700 will be earmarked as affordable; now word arrives of just what "affordable" means in the scope of the massive project. DNAinfo reports that the first building to go into construction, noted above, will contain 105 affordable apartments. People who earn 40 percent or 50 percent of median income—$20,109 to $24,080 and $25,564 to $30,100—will qualify for a studio, which will rent from $553 or $703 per month, depending on income percentage qualifications. One-bedrooms in the building will go for $595 to $765, and two-bedrooms for $723 to $916. Affordable apartments in the luxury building will have the same fixtures and finishes as in market rate apartments. People who already live in Community Board 1 will be given preference. The building is anticipated in 2017, with the housing lottery process occurring in 2016. Some tips for making the most of an entry here.
