The Upper East Siders who are vehemently against an already-approved waste transfer station along the river have appropriated another tool in their arsenal: Vision Zero. Asphalt Green, which runs a gym and sports field next to the Marine Transfer Station, put out a study saying that garbage trucks + lots of kids around = a ton more crashes. They calculate 400,00 children a year cross at York Avenue and 91st Street, where the 40,000 trucks would be passing to drop off refuse. [NYP; previously]
