Chelsea House, Bought for $4.6M in 2012, Sells for 4x More

New, 5 comments

An immaculately renovated townhouse on 22nd Street that dates back to 1840 just sold for its full ask: $16,250,000. Broker Fredrik Eklund announced the contract via carrier pigeon Instagram, noting the home's celebrity-filled history, having played host to Barack Obama, Jennifer Lopez, and Mark Wahlberg. Eklund also claims that, at over $4,000/square foot, the sale sets a Chelsea record. In the neighborhood, the median price per square foot for all recorded sales is $1,165; for houses, that figure is $1,412. The sale was also the second-most expensive of last week, according to the Olshan Luxury Report. Suffice it to say that sellers Bill White and Bryan Eure, who bought the place for $4.6 million in 2012, have completely cleaned up in the Flipping Out department.

It went into contract a mere five weeks after being listed, as per Olshan, after "an extensive renovation overseen by Stephen Fanuka, of HGTV's Million Dollar Contractor and Suk Design Group. This 16-foot-wide, 5-story townhouse ... has approximately 5,000 square feet with 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, an elevator, 4 gas fireplaces, and a garden, plus 3 terraces."
