It's actually possible to put a price on having a doorman. If you are a lucky duck who owns a luxury condo in New York City, you pay about 65% more per square foot for the pleasure of having someone hold the door, receive your packages, and take note of what time you return home at night. (Tsk, tsk.) CityRealty data that examined year-to-date 2014 sales in 200 NYC buildings showed that apartments in doorman buildings had had an average price per square foot of $2,958, while non-doorman buildings sold for $1,797 per square foot.
