It's been a long time coming, but the huge Harbor House restaurant complex at Pier A is finally opening. Tribeca Citizen managed to get a few pics of the casual first floor bar and restaurant, which soft opened last night, and hey, it looks pretty nice!

The $18 million restoration project has been ongoing since 2011, when developers the Dermot Company and restaurateurs Harry and Peter Poulakakos announced plans to renovate the crumbling, 128-year-old structure and build a three-story restaurant. Before that, plans for an Italian-American cultural museum and a new ferry terminalwere floated around. And before that, the pier served as headquarters for the Department of Docks and the Harbor Police, and as a boat station for the New York Fire Department. In 1992, the landmark was vacated, leaving behind some very cool ruins for the intrepid urban explorer.

The first-floor restaurant will now be open daily from 11am to 2am, offering pub fare with a seafood slant. The high-end restaurant on the second floor will open next year, with private dining rooms to follow.
