The first of three train track-covering platforms in New York City is complete. Brookfield Properties recently completed the 2.6-acre, 120,000-square-foot platform that will hold its Manhattan West towers across from the Farley Post Office on Ninth Avenue (other platforms are under construction at Hudson Yards and Pacific Park/Atlantic Yards). The platform consists of 16 bridge spans, each weighing 400 tons and measuring 240-feet long. Construction on the project's 800-unit residential tower will begin next year and open in 2017, with the first 60-story office tower opening in 2018. [DNAinfo; previously]
