New, 8 comments

As promised, the six-story building at 24 East 81st Street has hit the market and become the most expensive townhouse in New York City with an asking price of $63 million. Though currently separated into six units, with restaurant Crown occupying the ground floor, it was originally built as a single-family mansion for late 19th century/early 20th century developer Jeremiah C. Lyons, and could be converted back into one. Designed by prominent architects Buchman & Fox, the townhouse totals 17,850 square feet with, in its current configuration, 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and eight fireplaces.
