Looks Like That New Cooper Square Dorm Is Just About Done

New, 3 comments

It looks like the new 13-story dorm at 35 Cooper Square, though still covered in scaffolding, is just about finished, as the topped-out building is now fully glassed. Though it's a bit hard to appreciate through the scaffolding, the on-site rendering from last year indicates that it will be equally as hard to appreciate once the scaffolding is removed. (Which is to say, it's ugly.) Developer Arun Bhatia built the dorm for Marymount Manhattan College after tearing down the historic 185-year-old building that used to stand at the site, much to the chagrin of East Village locals.
