An artistic director has been chosen to lead the Culture Shed, the performing arts venue of Hudson Yards, and with the announcement comes a few updates on the project. Foundation work is currently underway, and it's on track for a 2018 (not 2017) opening. It's expected to cost $360 million, $266 million of which has already been raised. In addition to the retractable roof that can cover the plaza, the shed will feature three galleries and a rooftop cafe. [NYT; previously]
