After a hundred-plus years in the East Village, the beloved DeRobertis Pasticceria and Caffe is officially closing. The DeRobertis family put the building at 174-176 First Avenue on the market back in June 2013 for $12 million and it just went into contract last month. Although there was a shred of hope that the pastry shop might continue to operate with new owners, it appears that the 110-year-old shop will finally close on December 5. Jeremiah Moss speaks for us all when he asks, "What will move in next? God help us if it's a fucking Starbucks." [JVNY via EVG]
