Grand Lenox Hill Penthouse Full of Small Furniture Asks $12.9M

New, 5 comments

A Lenox Hill penthouse that overlooks the East River and Roosevelt Island is on the market for $12.9 million. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom home on East 72nd Street near FDR Drive comes with a grand entertaining room that's so large that even two furnished seating areas look insubstantial in the space. The current owner, a philanthropist who gives money to nice things like teen filmmaking competitions, has lived in the three-bedroom, four-bathroom apartment since 2004, at which time she and her husband paid $3.7 million for the 3,800-square-foot pad. If she gets her full ask, that would be a not-shabby $9.2 million profit, which happens to be exactly how much former neighbor, disgraced Bear Sterns executive Richard Harriton, was asking for his apartment the next door over as of March.
