After a decade of remediation, conservation work and numerous delays, Bush Terminal Piers Park along the Sunset Park waterfront between 43rd and 51st streets is open to the public. The former brownfield site-turned-park designed by AECOM and Adrian Smith Landscape Architects brings much-needed green space to the largely industrial south Brookyln waterfront. DNAinfo reports that the park, with one entrance at 43rd Street, has two soccer and baseball fields and a natural preserve. The park also has a flashy sustainable comfort station designed by Turrett Collaborative Architecture. Upon its opening, the city's Economic Development Corporation has handed control of the park over to the Parks Department.
