Following news of the impending closure of the historic (and pleasantly affordable) Cafe Edison, many fans of the Times Square institution have taken to social media to express their support for the restaurant. Now, a "lunch mob" planned for today at 12pm has been organized by Jeremiah Moss of Jeremiah's Vanishing New York. Protestors are encouraged to "bring a sign of support to create a visual impact" and to tweet or Instagram the hashtag #SaveCafeEdison. Additionally, a petition calling for the Edison Hotel to grant the cafe a reprieve has already garnered almost 4,000 signatures. [JVNY; Change.org]
