The 1928 Schwartz and Gross rental building at 40 East 72nd Street, now a condo conversion from Axia Realty, has launched sales with three of its six units hitting the market. The most expensive, a duplex maisonette, is asking $14.95 million ($4,363 per square foot) while the cheapest, if such a word as "cheapest" is even applicable here, is going for $13.95 million ($4,409 per square foot). All the units in the building are three- or four-bedrooms. They include private keyed elevator access and private outdoor space. The best part about the floorplans is that one of them features the outline of a grand piano—not that the unit comes with a grand piano, but if you're dropping $14 million on an Upper East Side apartment, it seems to imply, you're obviously bringing your own.
