Menorah Wars

New, 3 comments

It's like the battle of the Maccabees all over again. With Hanukkah starting this week, two different Jewish organizations in the city claim they are putting up the world's biggest menorahs. Crown Heights' Lubavitch Youth Organization erects their 33.5-foot-tall candelabra in Manhattan's Grand Army Plaza, while the Chabad of Park Slope will light their competitor, which is six inches taller, in Brooklyn's plaza of the same name. But the Lubavitchers' Midtown menorah is apparently "wider and weighs more." Ah, petty disagreements really make the holidays feel authentic, no? [Brooklyn Paper]
