Extell has closed on a parking structure at 251 West 45th Street alongside the already developer-owned 740 Eighth Avenue, making the possibility of another Midtown tower all the more likely. New York Daily News reports that the garage, which was acquired for $45.78 million, can be combined with the adjacent site to give way to Extell chief Gary Barnett's "tallest yet"and considering the firm's Nordstrom Tower will rise 1,775 feet, that's quite tall. Barnett has reportedly been buying development rights from local theaters to amp up the height of the speculated tower on Eighth Avenue between 45th and 46th streets. While it's still unknown what Extell has planned for the lot, a NYDN source guesses that the developer for the rich will likely construct not condos, but a hotel.
