The Curbed Cup is Coming! Name 2014's Best Neighborhood!

New, 20 comments

Every December for the last decade, Curbed readers have bestowed upon one New York City neighborhood the ultimate award: the Curbed Cup. The annual competition is now in its 11th year, and the stakes have never been higher (i.e. people have never taken this so seriously). The last two years, local groups launched full-on campaigns to propel their 'hoods to become the New York City neighborhood of the year. Will yet another underdog take the Curbed Cup this year? Before voting can begin, we need to know the neighborhoods that are worthy of such a prestigious honor. So while the fake pure gold trophy is being forged, we're looking for contenders.

A full 16 neighborhoods will face off in this year's Curbed Cub tournament, but which 16 should they be? Drop your nominations in the comments of this post or e-mail them over to us. We don't just want neighborhood names—please tell us why your neighborhood deserves to vie for the top spot. Did your neighborhood get a new megaproject? Did a hot new restaurant open? Did the retail scene blow up? We want to know what happened in your 'hood in 2014 that makes it worthy of inclusion. Here are the past winners:

2013: St. George
2012: Hudson Square
2011: Downtown Brooklyn
2010: Harlem's FDB
2009: Williamsburg
2008: Madison Square Park
2007: Long Island City
2006: West Harlem
2005: Prospect Heights
2004: Fort Greene

Which neighborhood will claim the year's ultimate honor?
