Roaches and rats aren't the only gross creatures crawling in our garbage. A post-Sandy study by the Global Change Biology (enacted to see how flooding affecting NYC's fauna) found 16,294 different bugs, including 32 species of ants, in parks and street medians, and found that these little guys consume the "equivalent of 60,000 frankfurters a year." Turns out, bugs and rodents do not care if an area has been flooded; they will still eat everything. [NYT]
