Last week, the first teaser was released for The Walk, a new film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as acrobat Philippe Petit, who famously walked between the World Trade Center's Twin Towers on a high-wire in 1974 and now shills for Harry Macklowe. And while the first trailer doesn't tell us much, it does feature a sweeping, CGI-heavy shot of 2 World Trade Center and Gordon-Levitt as the charming French showoff. To really hammer down the character's Frenchiness and the movie's 1970s setting, JGL is wearing a goofy red turtleneck and has silly-looking hair.
Regardless, the movie looks like it will probably be a fun-filled glimpse at a truly amazing moment in New York City history. But if you want to know whether or notPhilippe Petit "made it," you can just watch the acclaimed 2008 documentary Man on Wire, which meticulously deconstructed the feat in the style of a good old-fashioned heist movie.
Needless to say, if you have a crippling fear of heights, this movie is not for you. It will be released in 3D, natch.
