498 West End Avenue launched sales yesterday, listing 11 of its 19 newly renovated and combined units, two of which are already in contract. The prices of the remaining units, ranging from three-bedrooms to five-bedrooms, start at just over $3 million and go up to just over $9 million. Developer Samson Management paid $52.5 million for the 1910 building in 2012 and converted it from rentals to condos, which included restoring the facade and somehow getting a 4,000-square-foot addition approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission with little-to-no resistance. The penthouse that will live in the addition will come to market early next year, and construction is expected to be finished by mid-2015.
