In July, 13 businesses across the street from the Kingsbridge Armory, a future $345M ice complex, received notice that their new landlord planned to raise rents by 70 to 100 percent. The hikes weren't quite that high, but the businesses still don't have new leases. They've been paying month to month, but the area's merchants association hopes to hammer out an agreement that will keep them in place until 2017, when the ice center is supposed to open.
