Someone Actually Rented the $500,000/Month Pierre Suite

New, 11 comments

Because this is New York and bonkers real estate transactions more or less happen on the daily, someone has actually agreed to pay $500,000 per month for the city's priciest rental. The apartment takes up the swanky Pierre Hotel's full 39th floor—including its Presidential Suite, which goes for $20,000 a night—and has a private elevator landing, six bedrooms, and six-and-a-half bathrooms. Although the rental is only in place through the end of the year, that's still a hefty sum to drop on a month of housing (the lease began in late November). To put it another way, if someone wanted to rent the suite for a full year, it would cost $6 million. And what's more, the Journal reports that the international renter of the record-breaking suite has also signed on for a $150,000 per month suite to accommodate "an extended family entourage situation."
