A plan to rebuild the Coney Island boardwalk with concrete has been met with strong opposition from locals, and now residents are pulling out the go-to weapon for halting changes: a preservation campaign. City Councilman Mark Treyger wants the wooden boardwalk to be designated a historic site so the wood can not be replaced with concrete or fake wood.
