Seven-Story Residential Building Will Replace Astoria House

The diminutive single-family home that used to stand at 31-23 Newtown Avenue is no more. The seemingly abandoned house, which looked even more out of place in recent years after a glassy office tower was erected next door, has been demolished to make way for a seven-story mixed-use building, We Heart Astoria was first to report. The new building will rise to seven stories and feature 20 residential units, as well as ground-floor office space and basement retail. According to construction fence signage, it is slated for completion in fall of 2016.
