Lights! Camera! A New Kind of Action!

As expected, Sunnyside's long-time independent movie theater will close in January. The landlord for Sunnyside Center Cinemas has decided to put the Queens Boulevard property on the leasing market for $750,000 per year, pitching it in the listing as a site ripe for residential development, with 52,224 square feet of air rights. Ground-floor retail will remain; bar/restaurant PJ Horgan's will keep its space, while the curtain will fall for the theater. Sayonara, $7.50 tickets.
