A group of West Chelsea residents are lobbying to get the ambulance station on West 23rd Street moved, claiming that the ambulances are ruining their ability to enjoy to their terraces by doing annoying ambulance things, such as having sirens and saving people's lives. And lest this seem like the type of battle that could never gain any traction, they have actually managed to get newly elected City Councilman Corey Johnson on their side. The station is, according to an FDNY spokesman, "the only station we have on the West Side of Manhattan from the southern tip all the way up to Harlem." [DNAinfo; photo by H.L.I.T.]
