Imagining What The QueensWay Park Could Possibly Look Like

New, 8 comments

The QueensWay, a proposed park that would transform 3.5 miles of abandoned LIRR tracks in Queens, may never actually become a reality, but that isn't stopping advocates and architects from imagining what this new green space could look like. The Emerging New York Architects Committee of the NYC chapter of the American Institute of Architects chose the QueensWay as the topic for its 2014 Biennial Design Ideas Competition, and they announced the winners today. Feasibility studies are currently underway to determine if the QueensWay could actually happen, and the ENYA competition was meant to supplement this work. These designs won't be used, but they can certainly serve as inspiration in the future. More than 120 proposals from around the world were submitted, and the top designs be featured in an exhibit at the Center for Architecture starting July 17, 2014.
