Ice falling from One World Trade Center has been a serious problem over the last few daysthe PATH station entrance had to be shutdown twicebut this isn't just an issue for the city's tallest tower. It's problematic for all skyscrapers, and it's only getting worse because of energy efficiency innovations and climate change (i.e. more extreme weather). Most new buildings use "heat trapping technologies" which keep the heat inside, making the facade cooler, thus more ice accumulates. [NYT; previously]
